Oh those innovators at Google ‘“ and you were thinking of shorting the stock!
Google will be announcing tomorrow its launch of Google Gears, an open source technology for building Web applications that can work offline. The technology will allow users of computers, phones and other devices to use Web services like e-mail, online calendars or news readers while intermittently connected to the Web, or even completely offline. Google hopes to use its platform to create standards that would provide developers with APIs for building offline functionality into web (online) based applications. According to Google the Gears tool will work with all browsers ‘“ Windows, Macintosh or Linux based.
If you want to try it out, a beta version is available for download.
