I have turned people away at my front door do to lack of money. We were selling a futon for $50 and they showed up with only $30. I could have sworn that they were bluffing and had the full $50. Nope, they walked away.

We sold it to someone else who had the money. Guess we can't blame them for trying.

I've had some very interesting experiences with craigslist so far.

The only bad things I've run into with selling is some flakey folks who don't seem to be able to keep an appointment.

Overall though I've been quite happy with both buying and selling.

I used Craiglist solely in selling items. I haven't tried buying there since I mostly opt to ebay.
