Leveraging Ideas.com

I fell into entrepreneurship during high school when I started my own painting business.

As an undergraduate I attended Bates College, majoring in Environmental Policy. Post college I moved to New York City and then to Washington, DC where I completed an MBA at Johns Hopkins University (Concentration in Finance). During business school I earned money by working a freelance strategy consultant, helping startups and VCs create and evaluate business models. For more information, my CV is available on LinkedIn.

I have three passions: wilderness, art, and entrepreneurship. The concept of wilderness is a natural extension of my love for outdoor adventure sports (mountain biking, mountaineering, fly-fishing) and was inspired by time spent at the National Outdoor Leadership School. For a great philosophical read, I highly recommend Cronin’s The Trouble with Wilderness. Art is something I aspire to appreciate more and more. Entrepreneurship is my modus operandi.

In 2006 I started Heights Media Group with my best friend to pursue our passions for social media and startups. It’s been a wild ride so far and we have some major new projects launching very soon. In addition to Heights Media Group, I serve as an advisor to several companies including, Endlessroom, ArtCatchr and iStrategyLabs.

    Hi!

I was impressed with your website. I was wondering your kind of company to share my business plan.

As an entrepreneur, I always look into the opportunities in the market. One and half year back, I started studying about tea and how to do value addition. In the process, I toyed an idea of opening Tea Room in India. As I progress, I thought of creating Four Verticals to my tea business which would help the brand thru its market presence as well make the revenue model of the business more attractive for my investors. To know the product, its market, scope of value addition (RTDT-ready to drink tea) and the people connected with it; I am currently pursuing a course on tea (Masters in Tea Management) at Kolkata. The said course had a step at IIT, Kharagpur where we were taught about organic tea. During this course, I had the opportunity to meet few tea consultants, tea estate owners, tea taster and tea merchants. I had shared my idea with few of them and shaped it better.

Pl find herein below the brief outline of the business for your reference and interest.

Format 1: It will have (a) Large Tea Room: We’ll serve different types of hot tea and iced tea along with a range of sandwiches, short bread and omelets. (b) Stock all varieties of raw teas which people can pack according to their need. (c) Stock all kind of tea accessories starting from brewing machines, filters, mugs, tea-pots, napkins, tea-cozy, table linen, spoon, tea gifts to tea box, honey sticks ,sugar cubes, cookies and tea recipe books.

The above outlet will help in building the brand and the place will be a meeting points for young ones as well old ones as in India the per person consumptions is more and the no of tea drinker is more than any other beverages except WATER. Second, the menu will act as a guide for the customers to choose the kind of tea they want to take home. Third, the change of attitude of tea drinker (the way we will serve) will tempt them to buy the accessories as the way you drink tea at home will become style

    statement, not just mere customary.

Format 2: It will have (a) a counter to cater to serve few varieties of ready made teas and iced teas and only sandwiches (take away format) and (b) stock pre packed raw teas.

This will encash the brand image built up by Format 1 stores as well as add more points of sale to have a better visibility, reach and brand re-call. .

Format 3: It will stock raw teas, both pre-packed & loose and cookies.

This will be in shop-in-shop format, ideally match the growing malls/shopping arcade in the country.

Pl call/contact me for any clarification.

Hope, you would find the project interesting and help me in taking it to the world.

    Thanks for your support.

    Best Regards,

    Sambeet Mohanty
