One thing that has plagued me recently is a lack of anything intelligent to read by young authors speaking to situations immediately relevant to me. I would love to read a work that really speaks to my generation and to the changes in culture, media and conventions currently taking place. If I had the talent to write such a seminal work, I would. Alas I do not. Dave Eggers is probably our greatest hope. In the interim, I thought I would write a series of posts on a topic very relevant to me and to many of my friends and ...
Still Puzzled…
I still have not heard back from Facebook regarding what I allegedly did wrong. However Facebook did indicate that it removed one of my pages! I cannot figure out if this actually happened, but if it did, Facebook is on my shit list. All FB needed to do was politely inform me, take over the disputed Page (brand) and then give the Page to its ‘rightful’ owners. I use 'rightful' loosely. There is nothing indicating authentication is necessary to register a Page, so anyone should be able to do what I have done without consequence. Plus, why erase ...
The New York Times Magazine had a feature on Jimmy Wales and “his stuff.” I find the trend in featuring people’s possessions to be fascinating as it 1) offers incredible insights into their personal lives and 2) goes to show the power of brands and prevalence and acceptance of materialism throughout society. For example, Good Magazine always features an individual and their possessions in each issue.
Also noted in the article is that Jimmy Wales favorite website (other than Wikipedia), is Dopplr, a social travel application I have been testing out.
When VCs make investments we are told that they are really “investing in people.” Some businesses invest in advanced education for their top employees.
I have always thought it would be interesting if people could invest in other people. Consider this – if a VC is really investing in people, then why are people not investments in and of themselves, rather than simply vehicles to investment? We can now invest in everything from weather derivatives to exotic asset classes. What if you could invest in an entrepreneur, rather than his or her company? Would that person have more incentive to ...

At Heights Media Group, we have been doing quite a lot of research surrounding the concept of “work.” Most recently I conducted an SEO analysis for the keyword work to see what were the most searched for combinations of search terms surrounding “work.” You might think that the results would include working-out, work sucks, work help, etc. You would be wrong….
I present to you the analysis with keyword combinations and number of searches per month. Shockingly, the number one result? “Big Tits at Work,” which leads to some rather adult content. ...

What am I doing wrong?
Okay, I'm tired of beating around the bush. I'm a beautiful (spectacularly beautiful) 25 year old girl. I'm articulate and classy. I'm not from New York. I'm looking to get married to a guy who makes at least half a million a year. I know how that sounds, but keep in mind that a million a year is middle class in New York City, so I don't think I'm overreaching at all.
Are there any guys who make 500K or more on this board? Any wives? Could you ...
My sister sent me a link to a blog getting a lot of attention from her college friends: PostSecret. After spending an hour looking at the startling and fascinating content, I've concluded that PostSecret is truly an amazing digital art project. The beauty is in its simplicity; a combination of text and image (user-generated content posted to a blog) which evokes a cascade of emotions.
In the words of the author:
PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard.
PostSecret is the largest advertisement free blog on the net, maintains ...
Just watched the series premiere of Gossip Girl, which is basically the OC '2.0' but with more sex, drugs and rock and roll and done' EC' style (East Coast, duh). The show takes place on the Upper East Side and is based on a book series.
The Mysterious Gossip Girl posts and texts the latest updates of high school happenings to her blog. Maybe next she’ll start Twittering.
Sadly, I think I'm hooked.
My friend pointed me to this killer video by Justice called D.A.N.C.E.

This video is up for 'video of the year' on MTV. Justice is an extreme underdog - gotta love it. The interactive was created by So Me, a French graphic designer. So Me explains the art in the video..."Some of the animations are, like, references to T-shirts that were made in the past, and some are dedications to friends, like a way to say hello to someone and they're the only one who knows it."
V. cool.
